UCLA BRUIN BASH

Role: Head Coordinator

Bruin Bash is a long standing tradition of UCLA Welcome Week, held on the first day of academic school year. For many, it is the first exposure they will have to UCLA. Typically, Bruin Bash consists of a film, festival, Enormous Activities Fair, and the main event: a 10,000 student concert held in the famous Pauley Pavilion.  Past performers have included: Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, and Childish Gambino, making this event another way in which UCLA defines the trends and predicts the future power players in the music industry.

In my role as the Head Coordinator of Bruin Bash, I had a hand in nearly every single aspect of the aspect of the multi-day event from start to finish. The concert, headlined by Madeon and opened by future Best New Artist nominee Anderson Paak (as Nx Worries), the show was a "sold out" event (free for students, but venue was filled to maximum capacity).

  • Talent Booking: process included brainstorm, outreach, offer letters, radius clauses, W9, performance agreement, day of management, etc.

  • Website Development: created a team of web developers, designers, and online marketers to build a website from scratch that would be able to accommodate heavy web traffic of tens of thousands of students. This was done in the time span of two months.

  • Sponsorship: worked on a sponsorship deck and personally helped to acquire the first title sponsor in Bruin Bash's history: Nissan College Grad. This also became the most prosperous and diverse year of sponsorship in Bruin Bash's history.

  • Marketing Plan: worked with a team of print, online, field, and PR marketers to craft a plan that could generate over 100,000 impressions. This was achieved and exceeded through a combination of digital planning, personal outreach, mass newsletters, and many man hours.

  • Venue layout: drafting up proposals for each site (festival, film, concert), working with the Fire Marshall on approvals

  • LA Fire/UCPD/ Security : coordinated with individual agencies on safely/ health plans for all students

  • Budget: entrusted with managing a budget that exceeded $150,000 and successfully was able to go under budget and establish a contingency fund for future years.

  • Staffing: Managed a staff of 100+ people
