LONG BEACH AIRPORT FESTIVAL OF FLIGHT

Role: Festival Coordinator
The 2017 Festival of Flight is an annual, community event held at the Long Beach Airport to celebrate aviation. This year, I joined a team that turned the usual small, parking lot event on its head, changing the layout to take place on the airport tarmac! As planes took off on runways mere yards ahead of us, guests had the opportunity to eat, drink, look at static display of dozens of planes (including a massive C17 military carrier and the Virgin Orbit), listen to live music, and engage with a variety of vendors. This event drew in nearly 10,000 attendees, more than double of what was seen in past years.

  • Site Plan: Drafted new site plan for festival area, including vendor placement, food trucks, staging, and a viewing platform to watch planes take off over the festival

  • Food Trucks: Booked and managed 5 food trucks, collecting insurance, completing permitting, coordinating and staging day-of

  • Vendors: Worked on vendor placement & day of event relations. Booked and managed photographer for the day to provide free commemorative photos for guests

  • Talent Booking: â€‹Brainstormed and reached out to talent, processed W9s, ensured timely payment

  • Day of Logistics: Managed the festival area throughout the setup, event, and breakdown
